Locations and device placement
Organise your devices into zones — see unplaced devices, place them in bulk, and move them between zones.
Locations and device placement
The Locations page (Settings → Organisation → Locations) is where you
physically organise your devices into zones (a tree you can rename,
re-nest and extend).
Seeing unplaced devices
A device can exist in your organisation without sitting in any zone — typically freshly-synced meters. The "Unplaced" bucket at the top of the page lists all of them, with a counter. It's where you pick up anything that doesn't yet have a home.
Placing devices
- In "Unplaced", tick the devices to file — or use "Select all (N)" to take the whole current search result.
- Click "Place in a zone…".
- Choose the destination zone and confirm. The confirmation shows the exact device count — a large "select all" never fires without your approval.
Placed devices leave the "Unplaced" bucket immediately.
Viewing, moving and removing what's in a zone
The "In a zone" scope shows the devices currently filed in the chosen zone. Each device shows a chip of its zones (the primary one highlighted), and two actions:
- + Zone — add the device to an additional zone (a device can belong to several zones; its chips list them all).
- Move — send it to another zone (removes it from the current one).
- Remove — take it out of the zone (it becomes "Unplaced" again if it's in no other zone).
Search and large fleets
Search filters by name or identifier, and lists load page by page ("Show more") — the page stays responsive even with several thousand devices.
Note — Placement is done by selection (checkboxes), not drag-and-drop. Devices shared by another organisation can also be placed; if they stop being shared, their placement disappears automatically.
